Mouse Transplantation

Mouse transplantation is the transfer of cells, tissues, or organs into a mouse to study how grafts survive, function, and interact with the recipient. Researchers place donor material in a selected anatomical site, often using immune-compatible or immunodeficient mice to promote engraftment and then monitor vascularization, immune rejection, and tissue integration. This approach provides controlled models for investigating transplantation biology, tumor growth, disease mechanisms, tissue regeneration, and therapeutic cell function. By linking experimental manipulation with measurable outcomes in vivo, mouse transplantation helps evaluate biological responses and informs the development of treatments for human disease.

In order to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neotissue formation and stenosis development in tissue engineered heart valves, a murine model of heterotopic heart valve transplantation was developed. A pulmonary heart valve was transplanted to recipient using the heterotopic heart transplantation technique.
