Neonatal Mouse Model

A neonatal mouse model uses newborn mice to study biological processes during the earliest stages of postnatal development, when organs, immune responses, and neural circuits are still maturing. Researchers examine how genetic changes, environmental conditions, infections, or experimental treatments affect development by controlling exposure and measuring molecular, cellular, physiological, or behavioral outcomes over time. Because neonatal mice undergo rapid, stage-specific changes, this model helps clarify mechanisms underlying development, disease onset, tissue injury, and repair. It also supports evaluation of developmental therapies and provides findings that can guide studies of pediatric biology while highlighting differences between immature and adult responses.

Presented is a concise battery of mouse neonatal motor tests. Using these tests, neonatal motor deficits can be demonstrated in a variety of neonatal motor disorders. By having a standardized set of tests, results from different studies can be compared, allowing for better and accurate reporting between groups.
