Push-pull Method

The push-pull method is an integrated pest-management strategy that reduces crop damage by directing insect pests away from a valuable crop and toward a controlled destination. It combines “push” factors, such as repellent plants or stimuli that make the crop less attractive, with “pull” factors, including trap crops or attractants that draw pests into a separate area where they can be monitored or controlled. In biology and agricultural research, this behavioral approach can reduce reliance on synthetic pesticides, support natural enemies, and improve sustainable pest management, while also providing a framework for studying host selection and insect movement.

A Push-pull Protocol to Reduce Colonization of Bird Nest Boxes by Honey Bees

Preventing colonization of bird nest boxes by invasive Africanized honey bees is important for conservation efforts of nest-site limited birds. We provide an integrated pest management approach to "push" bees away from nest boxes with a repellant insecticide, permethrin, and "pull" them toward pheromone baited swarm traps.

Cost‐Push Inflation II

2026

Cost-push inflation happens when the overall price level rises because production costs increase. It is explained using the AD-AS model. In the model, the vertical axis represents the overall price level, while the horizontal axis represents real GDP, or total output in the economy.Cost-push inflation begins on the supply side of the economy. Suppose global crude oil prices rise due to events like geopolitical tensions or a reduction in global supply. Since fuel is an important input used in...

Calmodulin (CaM) pull-down assay is an effective way to investigate the interaction of CaM with various proteins. This method uses CaM-sepharose beads for efficient and specific analysis of CaM-binding proteins. This provides an important tool to explore CaM signaling in cellular function.

Cost-push inflation occurs when businesses face rising production expenses and respond by increasing the prices of their goods and services. In this situation, inflation begins with higher costs rather than stronger consumer demand. As more firms experience these cost increases, the effects can spread throughout the economy.Every business relies on inputs to produce and deliver its products. These inputs may include labor, raw materials, energy, and transportation services. When the cost of an...

Co-Immunoprecipitation and Pull-Down Assays

Co-immunoprecipitation (CoIP) and pull-down assays are closely related methods to identify stable protein-protein interactions. These methods are related to immunoprecipitation, a method for separating a target protein bound to an antibody from unbound proteins. In CoIP, an antibody-bound protein is itself bound to another protein that does not bind with the antibody, this is followed by a separation process that preserves the protein-protein complex. The difference in pull-down assays is that...
