Sds Perfusion

SDS perfusion is a method for processing biological tissues by circulating sodium dodecyl sulfate solution through their vascular network. This anionic detergent disrupts lipid bilayers and solubilizes cellular material, allowing the reagent to move through intact organs or tissue specimens while retaining key structural components. In biology, SDS perfusion supports tissue decellularization and clearing by reducing cellular background and improving visibility of extracellular matrix architecture. The resulting preparations can support three-dimensional imaging, structural analysis, and development of biological scaffolds, although outcomes depend on detergent exposure, delivery conditions, and preservation of tissue structure.

Separating Protein with SDS-PAGE

2023

Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Poly-Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis, or SDS-PAGE, is a widely-used technique for separating mixtures of proteins based on their size and nothing else. SDS, an anionic detergent, is used to produce an even charge across the length of proteins that have been linearized. By first loading them into a gel made of polyacrylamide and then applying an electric field to the gel, SDS-coated proteins are then separated. The electric field acts as the driving force, drawing the SDS...

Gel electrophoresis is a method that separates biological macromolecules like nucleic acids or proteins by forcing them to pass through a gel matrix under an electric field. A variation of gel electrophoresis, termed polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), is commonly used for separating proteins according to their molecular size by passing them through a polyacrylamide gel. Because of the varying charges associated with amino acid side chains, PAGE can be used to separate intact proteins...

Standardized SDS-PAGE Workflow for Personalized Protein Corona Profiling in Early Cancer Detection

2025

This protocol standardizes SDS-PAGE analysis for personalized protein corona profiling on nanoparticles, enabling reproducible, scalable, and low-cost detection of cancer-specific signatures. Designed for early diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, it offers a practical, REASSURED-aligned alternative to complex proteomic methods in both research and clinical settings.

Antegrade Perfusion Model: An Ex Vivo Technique to Perfuse Isolated Mouse Heart

2025

This video describes an antegrade perfusion technique of an isolated mouse heart during which a perfusate is injected through the left ventricle, and eventually, it perfuses the entire myocardium. This method can be used to isolate cardiomyocytes from murine models and generate decellularized hearts for further downstream applications.

Langendorff Retrograde Heart Perfusion: An Ex Vivo Technique to Perfuse Isolated Mouse Heart

2025

In this video, we perform Langendorff retrograde perfusion of an isolated mouse heart. During the procedure, the cardiac activity of the heart is maintained by perfusing it retrogradely with a perfusion solution via the coronary arteries using a cannula inserted into the ascending aorta. The model is used to study the cardiac pathophysiology of the heart.
