Transplant Survival

Transplant survival is the continued function and viability of a transplanted organ, tissue, or cell population after it is introduced into a recipient. It depends on successful blood supply and integration, while the recipient’s immune system may recognize donor antigens as foreign and initiate rejection; immunosuppressive treatment helps limit this response but requires careful management. In biology and medicine, studying transplant survival clarifies host–donor interactions, immune tolerance, tissue repair, and factors that influence graft function over time. These insights support improved donor matching, transplantation protocols, and strategies for regenerative medicine.
