Iv Extension Set

An IV extension set is a short, sterile, flexible tube that connects an intravenous catheter to infusion tubing, syringes, or other vascular access equipment, helping organize and protect the access site during clinical care. Its internal lumen provides a continuous pathway for fluids or medications, while connectors, clamps, and needleless valves can regulate flow and support repeated access without directly manipulating the catheter. Proper priming removes air, and maintaining aseptic technique during connection and disconnection helps reduce contamination and complications. IV extension sets are used in fluid therapy, medication administration, blood sampling, and management of peripheral or central venous access.

Proboscis extension response or PER is a taste behavior assay that has been used in flies as well as in honeybees. When the proboscis makes contact with an attractive substance, the fly extends its proboscis to consume the substance. Solutions of various sugars are very attractive to the fly.

Using a Macrophage Conditioned Medium to Promote Neuron Extensions

This video demonstrates an assay for promoting the growth of neuron projections known as neurite outgrowth using the macrophage-conditioned medium. Co-culture neurons and macrophages with cAMP and harvest the macrophage-derived conditioned medium. Growing the neurons with the conditioned medium promotes neurite outgrowths. These outgrowths are fluorescently labeled and visualized using a fluorescence microscope.

When compared to the previous paper protocol, implementation of a computerized glucose management system results in a substantial increase in blood glucose concentration measurements within the target range. Using a computerized glucose management system to monitor blood glucose levels, decreases in severe hypoglycemia (<40 mg/dL), clinical hypoglycemia (<70 mg/dL), and hyperglycemia (>180 mg/dL) also can be observed.
