Vascular Examination

Vascular examination is a systematic clinical assessment of arterial and venous circulation that helps identify impaired blood flow, vessel disease, and related complications. Clinicians inspect skin color, temperature, swelling, and visible veins; palpate peripheral pulses and capillary refill; and use auscultation, blood-pressure comparison, or Doppler techniques to detect changes in perfusion and blood-flow patterns. In clinical practice, these findings support evaluation of conditions such as peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, aneurysms, and chronic venous insufficiency. Accurate examination guides further diagnostic testing, treatment decisions, and monitoring of vascular health over time.
