Reference Node

A reference node is the node in an electrical circuit assigned a voltage of zero, providing the common baseline for measuring all other node voltages. In nodal analysis, engineers select this node, often the circuit ground, and apply Kirchhoff’s current law to the remaining nodes; each calculated voltage then represents a potential difference relative to the reference. This approach reduces the number of unknowns, organizes circuit equations, and supports analysis of resistive, electronic, and power systems. Proper reference-node selection can simplify calculations and improve interpretation of measured or simulated circuit behavior.

Source: Richard Glickman-Simon, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, MA The lymphatic system has two main functions: to return extracellular fluid back to the venous circulation and to expose antigenic substances to the immune system. As the collected fluid passes through lymphatic channels on its way back to the systemic circulation, it encounters multiple nodes consisting of highly concentrated clusters of...

Citations play a key role in academic writing by documenting the evidence that supports scholarly claims. Beyond giving credit to original authors, they show engagement with existing research and strengthen the credibility of an argument. Effective citation practices are central to research literacy because they reflect a writer’s ability to locate, evaluate, and integrate reliable sources into their work. Digital Tools for Citation Management Advances in digital technology have simplified the...

This video demonstrates the procedure to isolate sinoatrial node or SAN from mouse heart. The SAN houses the sinoatrial cells that initiates heartbeat by generating spontaneous action potentials.

Symbolic Understanding II: Displaced Reference

2026

Displaced reference is an important milestone in symbolic understanding that begins to emerge around 12 months of age. It is the ability to use words to refer to objects, people, or events that are not currently visible. This ability allows infants and toddlers to learn through communication even when objects or events are not directly present.Early DevelopmentBy approximately 12 to 13 months, infants may respond to the name of an absent familiar object by looking or pointing toward the place...

Implementation of a Reference Interferometer for Nanodetection

2014

A reference interferometer technique, which is designed to remove undesirable laser jitter noise for nanodetection, is utilized for probing an ultra-high quality factor microcavity. Instructions for assembly, setup, and data acquisition are provided, alongside the measurement process for specifying the cavity quality factor.
