Gingival Tissue Analysis

Gingival tissue analysis is the systematic examination of gum tissue to characterize its structure, immune activity, and changes associated with infection or inflammation. Researchers collect tissue samples and use histological, immunological, or molecular analyses to identify inflammatory cell infiltration, tissue damage, immune mediators, and signals linked to microbial exposure. In immunology and infection research, these measurements help clarify how host defenses respond to oral pathogens and how inflammation progresses from healthy tissue to periodontal disease. The findings support disease classification, evaluation of immune mechanisms, assessment of treatment responses, and development of strategies to preserve or restore periodontal health.

(2015).This video demonstrates the in situ detection of bacteria in mouse gingival tissue sections using digoxin-labeled DNA probes targeting bacterial DNA. The section is incubated with the probe. Alkaline phosphatase-conjugated antibodies specific to digoxin are added. Endogenous phosphatases are inactivated, and a colored precipitate is...

Isolation of Gingival Immune Cell Network from Murine Teeth Blocks

This video demonstrates the isolation procedure of the gingival immune cell network from a mouse model. The enzymatic digestion releases the gingival tissue from the attached teeth and bone, which is further mechanically digested, releasing immune cells from the gingiva. The isolated cells are ready for immunological experiments.

Here we present a modified method for the isolation and culture of human gingival epithelial cells by adding the Rock inhibitor, Y-27632, to the traditional method. This method is easier, less time-consuming, enhances stem cell properties, and produces larger numbers of high-potential epithelial cells both for the laboratory and for clinical applications.
