Vaccine Batch

A vaccine batch is a defined quantity of vaccine produced during a single manufacturing run under controlled conditions, making batch consistency essential for product quality and patient safety. Each batch undergoes standardized processing and quality-control testing to confirm its identity, composition, sterility, stability, and biological potency before release. In immunology and infection research, batch evaluation helps verify that vaccine doses reliably induce the intended immune response and meet manufacturing specifications. Batch records and traceability also support investigation of production variability, comparison of results across studies, and consistent delivery in vaccination programs.

Batch and Continuous Bioreactors

2023

Bioreactors are used to grow organisms in large volumes, thereby enabling the production of mass quantities of the target product. These reactors can be batch reactors, which contain all of the components needed for cell growth, or continuous reactors, which have inlet and outlet ports allowing for the addition of fresh growth media and the removal of cell waste. This video presents batch and continuous reactors and demonstrates the use of bioreactors to grow bacteria in the laboratory.

Vaccinations

2019

Overview Vaccination is the administration of antigenic material from pathogens to confer immunity against a specific microorganism. Vaccination primes the immune system to recognize and mount an immune response faster and more effectively if the real pathogen is encountered. Vaccinations are one of the most efficient ways to protect both individual humans and the general public from disease. A growing anti-vaccination skepticism risks the successes of vaccination programs that helped reduce...

Prophylactic and therapeutic vaccination often fails to stimulate strong immune responses due to week drainage of the vaccine to lymph nodes and consequently poor involvement of immune cells. By direct injection of vaccine to lymph nodes, so-called intralymphatic injection, vaccine efficacy can be strongly improved and vaccine doses can be reduced.
