Cubic Polynomial

A cubic polynomial is a polynomial of degree three, typically written as ax³ + bx² + cx + d, where a is nonzero; it models relationships in which the variable’s highest power is three. Its behavior depends on the coefficients, with roots found by solving ax³ + bx² + cx + d = 0 and its graph shaped by turning points, inflection points, and end behavior. Cubic polynomials can have one, two, or three real roots, while complex roots occur in conjugate pairs when coefficients are real. In mathematics, they support equation solving, curve analysis, interpolation, and models of changing quantities.

Polynomials IA polynomial is an algebraic expression composed of variables and real-number coefficients, in which the variables are raised only to whole-number exponents.Polynomials can be classified in two main ways. The first classification is based on the number of unlike terms in the expression. A polynomial containing one term is called a monomial, such as 4x2. A polynomial with two terms is a binomial, such as x+5, while a polynomial containing three terms is a trinomial, such as...

Long Division of Polynomials

Polynomial division is an essential algebraic process to simplify expressions and solve equations. Just as numerical division separates a number into quotient and remainder, polynomial long division partitions a polynomial into simpler components; in this context, the dividend is the polynomial being divided, the divisor is the expression dividing it, and the result is expressed in terms of a quotient and a remainder. The division begins by arranging the dividend and divisor in standard...

A bakery sells 3,000 cupcakes each month for $4 per cupcake. The owner wants to understand how increasing the price may affect monthly revenue, which is the total amount of money earned from cupcake sales. Since a higher price can reduce the number of cupcakes sold, both the selling price and the sales quantity must be considered when modeling revenue.Suppose the owner increases the price of each cupcake by x dollars. The new price is four plus x dollars. According to a market study, every $1...

Synthetic Disvision of Polynomials

Synthetic division is an efficient algorithmic approach for dividing a polynomial by a linear binomial of the form x - c, where c is a real number. This method is helpful due to its streamlined process, which avoids the more cumbersome steps involved in the traditional long division of polynomials. It simplifies computation and serves as a practical tool for evaluating polynomials and identifying their factors. To perform synthetic division, one begins by listing the coefficients of the...
