Ellipse

An ellipse is a closed, oval-shaped curve in which the sum of the distances from every point on the curve to two fixed points, called foci, remains constant. Its geometry is described by a major axis, minor axis, center, eccentricity, and standard equation, which together determine its size, shape, and orientation. In mathematics, ellipses support the study of conic sections, coordinate geometry, and analytic relationships between distance and position. They also model planetary orbits, satellite trajectories, optical reflection, and engineering designs, making them important for connecting geometric principles with physical systems and applied problem-solving.

Ellipses

An ellipse is formed when a right circular cone is intersected by an inclined plane that does not cut through its base. This intersection yields a closed, symmetric curve characterized by distinctive geometric properties. Most notably, an ellipse is defined as the collection of all points in a plane for which the combined distances to two fixed points—called the foci—remain constant. The ellipse features two principal axes: the major and the minor axes. The major axis is the longest diameter,...

Eccentricity of an Ellipse

An ellipse is a fundamental conic section defined by the constant sum of distances from any point on its curve to two fixed points, known as the foci. This geometric property can be physically demonstrated using a pencil, string, and two pins. By anchoring the string at both ends and maintaining it taut with a pencil, one can trace the outline of an ellipse. The shape and extent of the ellipse are determined by its eccentricity, e, defined as the ratio of the distance between the center and a...

2025

In this study, Er,Cr:YSGG and diode lasers applied separately to the flat surface of a total of 96 specially designed titanium cylinders. A thermocouple placed on the other surface and the temperature was measured. Surface roughness analyzed by profilometer, SEM and AFM.

Although the peripheral nervous system (PNS) is capable of significant repair after injury, little is known about the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern this phenomenon. Using live, transgenic zebrafish and a reproducible nerve transection assay, we can study dynamic glial cell behaviors during nerve degeneration and regeneration.
