Slanted Side

“Slanted side” in mathematics refers to a line segment or boundary that is inclined rather than horizontal or vertical, often forming part of a geometric figure. Its orientation can be described by its slope, calculated as the change in vertical position divided by the change in horizontal position, or by the angle it makes with a reference line. In triangles, trapezoids, polygons, and solids, a slanted side helps determine lengths, angles, perimeter, area, and surface measurements; when its endpoints or angle are known, geometric relationships such as the Pythagorean theorem can be used to calculate its length. Understanding slanted sides supports diagram interpretation and mathematical modeling.

Slant Asymptotes

2026

A function's behavior is often guided by asymptotic constraints, where one term dominates another, defining a limiting trend. In the given scenario, the mathematical pattern follows a rational function: a cubic term in the numerator is divided by a squared term in the denominator. This results in a function with distinct characteristics, including an oblique asymptote, critical points, and undefined regions. The function's validity is determined by the denominator, which must be nonzero. This paper discusses the methodology used to reveal the 'Uncatchable Smile' illusion in Leonardo da Vinci's La Bella Principessa portrait. A combination of three methods was used (inter-observation, structured interviews, and psychophysical experiments), which led to an investigation that shaped itself without prior beliefs, thus reducing potential researcher bias.

This protocol is used in establishing and maintaining gnotobiotic American cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) by surface sterilizing the egg cases (oothecae) prior to hatching. These gnotobiotic insects contain their vertically transmitted Blattabacterium endosymbionts but have axenic guts.

We developed an easily customized strand-specific fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) protocol combined with immunofluorescence. This allows for a detailed examination of RNA dynamics with simultaneous insight into the chromatin structure, nuclear organization, and transcriptional regulation at the single cell level.
