Hydrodissection

Hydrodissection is a medical technique that uses injected fluid to separate tissues along natural anatomical planes, creating space between structures that may be compressed, adherent, or difficult to access. Under imaging guidance, such as ultrasound, clinicians introduce a solution near the target and use hydraulic pressure to release tissue interfaces while visualizing nearby nerves, vessels, and other anatomy. The technique supports minimally invasive procedures, including the treatment of nerve entrapment and selected surgical dissections, and may reduce mechanical compression or improve access to challenging structures. Its effectiveness depends on accurate anatomical localization, controlled injection, and appropriate patient selection.
