Prisma 2020

PRISMA 2020 is an evidence-based reporting guideline that helps authors present systematic reviews and meta-analyses transparently, completely, and consistently in medicine. It provides a 27-item checklist and updated flow diagrams that structure reporting of the review question, eligibility criteria, information sources, search strategy, study selection, data collection, risk-of-bias assessment, and synthesis, while documenting records identified, excluded, and included. By making methods and results easier to evaluate and reproduce, PRISMA 2020 supports critical appraisal, reduces reporting ambiguity, and improves the reliability and clinical usefulness of synthesized evidence for healthcare research and decision-making.

2026

A systematic review is a rigorous, transparent method for identifying, evaluating, and combining all relevant research to address a specific question. For instance, a review might examine whether exercise reduces anxiety. Unlike narrative reviews, systematic reviews follow predefined protocols to reduce bias and ensure comprehensive coverage of the available evidence. Many follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, which include...

2021

Extracellular glutamate-triggered systemic calcium signaling is critical for the induction of plant defense responses to mechanical wounding and herbivore attack in plants. This article describes a method to visualize the spatial and temporal dynamics of both these factors using Arabidopsis thaliana plants expressing calcium- and glutamate-sensitive fluorescent biosensors.

Comparison of Predictive Performance of Three Lymph Node Staging Systems in Colorectal Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma Based on Machine Learning Model

This study evaluates prognostic systems for colorectal signet-ring cell carcinoma patients using machine learning models and competing risk analyses. It identifies log odds of positive lymph nodes as a superior predictor compared to pN staging, demonstrating strong predictive performance and aiding clinical decision-making through robust survival prediction tools.

Innovative Strategies for Organ Preservation in Heart Transplantation: Uniform Cooling Preservation and Ex-situ Normothermic Perfusion

2025

Donor heart preservation is a major determinant of success in heart transplantation. Technological advances have led to optimizing the conditions of preservation, along with a more accurate assessment of the donor heart before transplantation. We herein describe two innovative technologies currently applied for cardiac preservation: uniform cooling preservation and normothermic ex-situ heart perfusion.

Induction and Phenotyping of Acute Right Heart Failure in a Large Animal Model of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

We present a protocol to induce and phenotype an acute right heart failure in a large animal model with chronic pulmonary hypertension. This model can be used to test therapeutic interventions, to develop right heart metrics or to improve the understanding of acute right heart failure pathophysiology.
