Randomized Controlled Study

A randomized controlled study is a research design that compares interventions by assigning participants to treatment or control groups through random allocation, helping determine whether observed effects are caused by the intervention rather than by preexisting differences. Researchers define eligibility criteria and outcomes, then use randomization to balance participant characteristics across groups; control conditions and, when feasible, blinding reduce bias during treatment and assessment. In medicine, this method evaluates drugs, vaccines, procedures, behavioral interventions, and care strategies, providing strong evidence for benefits and risks. Its results support clinical guidelines, regulatory decisions, and evidence-based patient care.

Bioequivalence Experimental Study Designs: Completely Randomized and Randomized Block Designs

2026

Bioequivalence experimental study designs are crucial methodologies used in evaluating and comparing the bioavailability of different drug products. These designs are categorized into various types: completely randomized, randomized block, repeated measures, cross and carry-over, and Latin square designs.Completely randomized designs involve randomly allocating treatments to all subjects participating in the experiment. This allocation is achieved by assigning unique random numbers to subjects...

Types of Biopharmaceutical Studies: Controlled and Non-Controlled Approaches

2024

Biopharmaceutical studies constitute a vital field aiming to enhance drug delivery methods and refine therapeutic approaches, drawing upon diverse interdisciplinary knowledge. In research methodologies, the choice between controlled and non-controlled studies significantly influences the study's reliability and accuracy. Non-controlled studies, commonly employed for initial exploration, lack a control group, rendering them susceptible to biases and external influences. In contrast, controlled...

Studying the Protein Quality Control System of D. discoideum Using Temperature-controlled Live Cell Imaging

2016

The social amoebae Dictyostelium discoideum has recently been established as a system to study protein misfolding and proteostasis. Here, we describe a new imaging-based methodology to study temperature-induced protein aggregation and the cellular stress response in D. discoideum.
