Trabeculotomy Cleft

Trabeculotomy cleft is an opening created through the trabecular meshwork into Schlemm’s canal during trabeculotomy, a glaucoma procedure designed to improve aqueous humor outflow and reduce intraocular pressure. By disrupting diseased or resistant trabecular tissue, the cleft provides a pathway from the anterior chamber to Schlemm’s canal and the eye’s downstream drainage vessels, provided these pathways remain functional. Clinically, its appearance and patency can be assessed with gonioscopy or anterior-segment imaging after surgery, helping clinicians evaluate the surgical effect, interpret postoperative anatomy, and understand why pressure reduction may vary among patients with glaucoma.

The Synapse

Neurons communicate with one another by passing on their electrical signals to other neurons. A synapse is the location where two neurons meet to exchange signals. At the synapse, the neuron that sends the signal is called the presynaptic cell, while the neuron that receives the message is called the postsynaptic cell. Note that most neurons can be both presynaptic and postsynaptic, as they both transmit and receive information. An electrical synapse is one type of synapse in which the pre-...

This protocol describes the isolation of satellite cells from branchiomeric head muscles of a 9 week-old rat. The muscles originate from different branchial arches. Subsequently, the satellite cells are cultured on a spot coating of millimeter size to study their differentiation. This approach avoids the expansion and passaging of satellite cells.

We described structural features of the Glia-neuromuscular synapses in a novel Inside-out tissue preparation of live fly larvae using fluorescent dyes with confocal microscopy. We labeled live neuron terminals with fluorescent primary antibodies to HRP, and also visualized the perisynaptic space with fluorescent Dextrans.

Visualization of experimental data has become a key element in presenting results to the scientific community. Generation of live time-lapse recording of growing embryos contributes to better presentation and understanding of complex developmental processes. This protocol is a step-by-step guide to cell labeling via photoconversion of kaede protein in zebrafish.
