Cell Culture Treatment

Cell culture treatment is the controlled application of compounds, environmental changes, or other interventions to cells maintained in vitro, enabling researchers to test how cells respond outside the organism. In practice, scientists expose neuronal or glial cultures to defined doses of drugs, growth factors, toxins, or altered culture conditions for a measured period, then assess outcomes such as viability, morphology, gene expression, or signaling. In neuroscience, these treatments model cellular responses to injury, neurodegenerative disease, inflammation, and potential therapeutics. Careful control of concentration, timing, cell type, and untreated controls improves reproducibility and helps connect molecular effects with neuronal function.

Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) can be expanded in vitro using the anchorage-independent sphere culture technique, which represents a powerful tool to study CSC biology and can serve as the first step to develop novel CSC-targeting therapies. Here the methodology for expanding, analyzing and targeting of pancreatic CSCs is provided.
