Ventral Nucleus Trapezoid Body

The ventral nucleus of the trapezoid body (VNTB) is a group of neurons in the auditory brainstem that helps process sound and supports accurate interpretation of acoustic signals. It receives input from ascending auditory pathways and sends mainly inhibitory, glycinergic and GABAergic projections to targets in the superior olivary complex and inferior colliculus, shaping the timing and strength of binaural neural activity. In neuroscience, the VNTB provides an important model for studying sound localization, auditory coding, and brainstem circuit organization. Research on its connections also helps explain how precisely timed inhibition contributes to hearing and how disruptions in these circuits may affect auditory function.

Co-culturing of Ventral Hippocampal and Nucleus Accumbens

2025

This video demonstrates the process of preparing ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues from mouse brains for co-culture. Neurons extend projections to form synaptic connections between the ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues. This method allows studying neuronal interactions between these two brain regions, offering insights into cognition, behavior, and neurological disorders.

Trapezoidal Rule

2026

Estimating the distance traveled by a vehicle using its recorded velocity over time is a common problem in physics and engineering. When velocity data is available at discrete time intervals, rather than as a continuous function, numerical integration methods such as the trapezoidal rule are often employed to approximate the total displacement. The trapezoidal rule works by dividing the total time interval into several equal segments. Within each segment, the recorded velocities at the endpoints...

Use of a Rat Model to Study Ventral Abdominal Hernia Repair

This manuscript describes methods associated with creation and repair of a ventral abdominal wall defect (hernia). This model can be used to study repair strategies such as those that use implanted materials. In this manuscript, repair of the experimental hernia with porcine small intestinal submucosa is presented as an example.

Imaging Nicotine-Induced Calcium Signaling along Ventral Hippocampal Axons in Synaptic Co-Cultures
