Visual System Analysis

Visual system analysis is the systematic study of how nervous systems detect, encode, and interpret visual information, linking sensory input to perception and behavior. In neuroscience, researchers examine this process by presenting controlled visual stimuli and measuring responses through behavioral tasks, eye tracking, electrophysiology, or brain imaging; comparisons between stimulus properties and neural or behavioral outputs reveal features such as selectivity, timing, and receptive-field organization. These analyses help characterize visual pathways, identify changes caused by development, disease, or injury, and evaluate models of perception. They also support research into vision restoration, neuroprosthetics, and disorders affecting visual processing.

Adhesive micropatterns that normalize cellular architecture can be used to increase sensitivity in the detection of drug effects, improve reproducibility and simplify automated image acquisition and analysis. Such technology will benefit drug/siRNA screening assays, performed on conventional cell culture supports and consequently suffering from excessive cell-to-cell variability.
