Biography

Lin Zhang is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in San Diego, California.

She received her Ph.D. from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB), Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), People's Republic of China. During Dr. Zhang’s training, she developed a keen focus on research to explore the role of a novel mammalian PHD finger protein 14 (PHF14). Employing the methods of biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, developmental biology and clinical approaches, she studied the function and potential molecular mechanism of PHF14 in lung carcinogenesis as well as PHF14 in mice embryonic development.

She then moved to Dr. Willis Li’s lab at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, California, USA to continue her postdoctoral training. As a postdoctoral scholar, her investigative interests include JAK/STAT signaling and innate immunity, epigenetic mechanisms of tumor suppression and tumorigenesis, and the role of heterochromatin in aging and in stem cells. Here she continued her research focus on the involvement of microRNAs in lung cancer carcinogenesis using diverse in vitro and in vivo model systems.
