Alsayed Mashaheet, Ph.D.

Sayed is a Science Editor at JoVE specializing in plant pathology, environmental sciences, and scientific communication. He holds a PhD and completed two postdoctoral fellowships in Plant Pathology at NC State University and Virginia Tech, where he led research on phytobiome systems and plant–microbe interactions. Before joining JoVE, he served as an Assistant Professor at Damanhour University and King Salman International University. Sayed has also worked as a consultant with CABI and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, training more than 35,000 researchers worldwide in grant writing, scientific publishing, and peer review. He is passionate about supporting early‑career scientists in communicating their work effectively to public audiences, stakeholders, and the scientific community. His research interests include how air pollution influences cultivated and natural plant systems. In his spare time, he enjoys walking and playing soccer. alsayed.mashaheet@jove.com
