Dr. Bruno Valiate holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Viçosa, where he worked with molecular biology, studying the role of apyrases in Leishmania major. He earned his PhD from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) for his work that explored the participation of the immunoreceptor CD300a in a murine model of antigen-induced arthritis. In this work he identified CD300a as a key regulator of the inflammatory process of the model, dampening neutrophil chemotaxis and cytokine production by macrophages. Dr. Valiate continued studying CD300a receptor as a postdoctoral fellow in UFMG, investigating its role in the resolution of inflammation in a murine gout model. Currently, he works as a postdoctoral fellow at the Research Center René Rachou (Fiocruz Minas), investigating COVID-19 vaccine response in humans and also involving myeloid cells in malaria.
