Erwin Park received his PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University. During his doctoral research, he investigated the kinetics and mechanisms of advanced oxidation processes, with a particular focus on high-valent copper species and their role in the oxidative transformation of amino acids and organic compounds upon coordination with copper ions. His work contributed to publications in environmental chemistry and water treatment, including studies on Fenton-like systems, reactive oxidants, and catalytic oxidation processes.
