Paula is a scientist and scientific publishing professional with a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology. She has over a decade of international experience spanning research, innovation, and scientific communication across academic institutions, startups, and publishing organizations in Brazil, the United States, and Europe. Her research background focuses on plant genetics, molecular biology, plant–microbe interactions, microbial biocontrol, and agricultural biotechnology. Throughout her career, she has led and contributed to multidisciplinary research projects involving genomics, functional genetics, microbiology, and sustainable crop production, resulting in more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. She also has extensive experience in scientific writing, peer review, editorial assessment, and content development, supporting researchers and scientific communities worldwide. As a Scientific Editor at JoVE, Paula is particularly interested in advancing scientific communication, fostering collaboration among researchers, and helping disseminate innovative methodologies that improve the reproducibility and impact of scientific research. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, caring for plants, and spending time with animals and nature.
