Body Image Intervention

Body image intervention is a structured behavioral or psychological approach designed to improve how people perceive, think about, and respond to their bodies. These interventions typically address appearance-ideal internalization, negative body-related beliefs, self-objectification, and avoidance through cognitive restructuring, media literacy, exposure, behavioral experiments, or strategies that promote body acceptance. In behavior research, they help evaluate how thoughts, emotions, and social influences shape eating, exercise, clothing, and social participation. Applications include prevention and treatment programs for body dissatisfaction and eating-related problems, with outcomes measured through changes in body image, distress, and everyday behavior.
