Rapid Sampling Procedure

Rapid Sampling Procedure is a biochemical method for collecting reaction samples at precisely defined time points, allowing researchers to measure short-lived changes that conventional sampling may miss. The procedure typically uses rapid withdrawal of a small sample followed by immediate reaction quenching or stabilization, preserving the chemical state present at collection. By comparing samples across a time course, researchers can track enzyme activity, metabolite formation, substrate consumption, and other dynamic processes. Rapid sampling supports kinetic analysis and improves the resolution of transient biochemical events in enzyme studies, metabolic research, process monitoring, and investigations of reaction mechanisms.

This protocol describes a high through put colorimetric method that relies on the formation of a complex between iodine and chains of glucose molecules in starch. Iodine forms complexes with both amylose and long chains within amylopectin. After the addition of iodine to a starch sample, the maximum absorption of amylose and amylopectin occurs at 620 and 550 nm, respectively. The amylose/amylopectin ratio can be estimated from the ratio of the 620 and 550 nm absorbance values and comparing them...

2012

Circulating tumor cells are isolated from the blood of cancer patients without inflicting cellular damage. Isolation of tumor cells is accomplished using a bimolecular surface of E-selectin in addition to antibodies against epithelial markers. A nanotube coating specifically promotes cancer cell adhesion resulting in high capture purities.
