Computer-aided Design Manufacturing

Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is an integrated digital approach that uses software to design, analyze, and produce physical objects, linking geometric models with fabrication processes. Engineers create a three-dimensional model, apply dimensional or material specifications, and convert the design into machine instructions such as CNC toolpaths or additive-manufacturing layers. In bioengineering, CAD/CAM supports patient-specific implants, prosthetics, surgical guides, and biomedical devices by improving dimensional control, design iteration, and reproducibility. It also enables customized geometries and rapid prototyping, helping translate computational designs into functional products for research and clinical development.

Steel Manufacturing

2024

Steel manufacturing is a multi-stage process that begins by smelting iron ore into cast iron in a blast furnace. This initial stage involves layering iron ore with coke, a type of fuel, and crushed limestone within the furnace. The coke is ignited with a high volume of air, leading to the creation of carbon monoxide, which acts to reduce the iron ore to pure iron. During this smelting process, limestone plays a crucial role by forming slag. Slag captures impurities within the molten iron, such...
