Graft Stenosis Assessment

Graft stenosis assessment is the evaluation of narrowing within a surgically implanted or tissue-engineered graft, a complication that can restrict transport through the conduit and compromise its function. It combines measurements of lumen geometry and blood-flow behavior, using imaging or hemodynamic methods to identify reduced diameter, disturbed flow, and changes in resistance across the graft. In bioengineering, these assessments help determine how graft materials, fabrication methods, and mechanical properties influence patency under physiological conditions. The resulting data support graft surveillance, performance comparison, and refinement of designs intended to maintain stable flow and reduce failure risk.

To improve our knowledge of cellular and molecular neotissue formation, a murine model of the TEVG was recently developed. The grafts were implanted as infrarenal vena cava interposition grafts in C57BL/6 mice. This model achieves similar results to those achieved in our clinical investigation, but over a far shortened time-course.

Catheter-based Endovascular Angioplasty for Fibrosing Mediastinitis-associated Pulmonary Vein Stenosis

2025

Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a life-threatening complication of fibrosing mediastinitis (FM), with a poor prognosis if not properly treated. Currently, catheter-based endovascular angioplasty is a promising therapeutic strategy for FM-associated PVS. This protocol primarily outlines a stepwise approach to the transcatheter procedure for FM-associated PVS.

Technique of Subnormothermic Ex Vivo Liver Perfusion for the Storage, Assessment, and Repair of Marginal Liver Grafts

Marginal grafts, such as fatty livers, grafts from older donors, or livers retrieved after cardiac death (DCD) tolerate conventional, cold static storage only poorly. We developed a novel model of subnormothermic ex vivo liver perfusion for preservation, assessment, and repair of marginal liver grafts prior to transplantation.
