Mold Surface Preparation

Mold surface preparation is the controlled cleaning and conditioning of a mold before forming a bioengineered material, helping produce accurate, reproducible structures. The process removes debris and residues while adjusting surface properties such as wettability, roughness, and release behavior, which influence how polymers, hydrogels, or other biomaterials fill the mold, cure, and separate from it. Proper preparation can reduce defects, contamination, sticking, and dimensional variation. In bioengineering, it supports the fabrication of scaffolds, microfluidic components, tissue-engineering constructs, and other molded devices where surface quality and repeatability affect biological performance and manufacturing reliability.
