Rabbit Reticulocyte Lysate

Rabbit reticulocyte lysate is a cell-free extract derived from immature rabbit red blood cells that supports protein synthesis outside living cells. Because reticulocytes retain ribosomes, transfer RNAs, enzymes, and energy-generating components while lacking nuclei and containing few endogenous messenger RNAs, the lysate can translate added mRNA or DNA templates in a controlled reaction. In bioengineering, researchers use this system for in vitro transcription-translation, rapid production of recombinant proteins, and analysis of gene expression, protein folding, and translation efficiency. Its defined composition and compatibility with radiolabeled or fluorescent amino acids also make it valuable for screening constructs and characterizing engineered proteins.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Blood sampling is commonly performed in laboratory rabbits for research and clinical applications. The collection site is selected based on the required sample volume, sampling frequency, and study objectives. As a general...

Electrochemiluminescence Assay for Quantification of Target Protein Levels in Brain Lysate

In this video, we demonstrate the electrochemiluminescence immunoassay for the quantitation of target protein levels in different samples. This assay is based on the luminescence produced in the electrochemical reaction. The intensity of light emitted is proportional to the quantity of the target protein in the sample.
