Adipose Tissue Harvest

Adipose tissue harvest is the collection of fat tissue from an organism for biological analysis, cell isolation, or transplantation-related research. Depending on the study design, tissue is obtained by surgical excision or aspiration under sterile conditions, then transported and processed to separate mature adipocytes from components such as the stromal vascular fraction. This procedure provides access to adipose-derived cells, extracellular matrix, and tissue-specific molecular information. In biology, harvested adipose tissue supports studies of metabolism, obesity, inflammation, regeneration, and stem cell biology, while standardized collection and handling help preserve sample quality and improve reproducibility.

Isolating Adipose-Derived Stem Cells from Murine Periaortic Adipose Tissue

This video demonstrates a technique for isolating and culturing fluorescently labeled neural crest-derived adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) from murine periaortic arch adipose tissue. Following isolation, the NCADSCs are detected, sorted using fluorescence-activated cell sorting, and subsequently cultured on a plate, promoting cell proliferation.

Harvesting Peritoneal Fat Depots: A Technique to Study Ovarian Cancer Colonization of Peritoneal Adipose Tissues in Mouse Models

The use of cell lines and tissue cultures that originated from research animals is a replacement technique, as it allows for many experiments to be conducted in vitro. Harvesting...

This protocol describes the isolation of pig adipose-derived stem cells (pADSC) from subcutaneous adipose tissues with examination of multipotency. The multipotent pADSC are used to delineate processes of adipocyte differentiation and study transdifferentiation into multiple cell lineages of mesodermal mesenchyme or further lineages of ectoderm and endoderm for regenerative studies.
