Mode Of Entry

Mode of entry is the route and mechanism by which a biological agent, substance, or organism enters a host, cell, tissue, or other biological system. In infection biology, entry may occur through inhalation, ingestion, skin contact, injection, or vector transmission, followed by processes such as barrier penetration, receptor binding, membrane fusion, or endocytosis. Identifying a mode of entry helps explain how pathogens establish infection, determine which tissues they can reach, and influence disease transmission. This concept supports epidemiological analysis, infection prevention, vaccine and therapeutic design, and the development of targeted delivery systems in biomedical research.

Plant defensins play an important role in plant defense against pathogens. For effective use of these antifungal peptides as antifungal agents, understanding their modes of action (MOA) is critical. Here, a live-cell imaging method is described to study critical aspects of the MOA of these peptides.

2025

In accounting, a business's economic activities are segmented into designated time intervals, typically monthly, quarterly, or annually, known as accounting periods. This segmentation facilitates consistent tracking, summarization, and reporting of financial data, enabling stakeholders to accurately evaluate a company's performance and financial position. Companies must incorporate adjusting entries at the close of each period to ensure that financial reports conform to the accrual basis of...

The mode is one of the commonly used measures of a central tendency. It is defined as the most frequent value in a data set. There can be more than one mode in a data set if multiple values have the same highest frequency. For instance, suppose that the Statistics exam scores of 20 students are: 50; 53; 59; 59; 63; 63; 72; 72; 72; 72; 72; 76; 78; 81; 83; 84; 84; 84; 90; 93. Here, the mode is 72, as it occurs most frequently, five times. A data set with two modes is called bimodal. For example,...
