Voice Production

Voice production is the biological process by which the respiratory and vocal systems generate audible sound for communication. Air expelled from the lungs passes through the larynx, where pressure causes the vocal folds to vibrate; the resulting sound is shaped by resonance in the throat, mouth, and nasal passages and articulated by the tongue, lips, and jaw. In biology, studying voice production reveals how respiratory control, muscle coordination, and tissue structure interact to produce changes in pitch, loudness, and vocal quality. This knowledge supports research on speech development, animal communication, vocal behavior, and disorders affecting the larynx or nervous system.

Asthma Detection Research Based on Voice Signal Processing and Machine Learning

2025

This study employed voice signal analysis and machine learning methods, utilizing MATLAB to extract distinctive voice features for non-invasive early detection of asthma. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) algorithms demonstrated comparable performance in terms of overall classification accuracy, although SVM may achieve a better balance between sensitivity and specificity.

Relation between Total Product, Marginal Product and Average Product

2024

In the short run, a firm manufactures a product using a fixed amount of capital and varying numbers of workers. Its total product (TP) shows how much output can be produced in a specific period for each combination of labor and capital. Since capital is constant, the output varies with labor. Marginal product (MP) measures the additional output produced by adding one more unit of labor. It is calculated as the change in output divided by the change in labor quantity (ΔTP/ΔL). Average product...

Scalar Product (Dot Product)

The scalar multiplication of two vectors is known as the scalar or dot product. As the name indicates, the scalar product of two vectors results in a number, that is, a scalar quantity. Scalar products are used to define work and energy relations. For example, the work that a force (a vector) performs on an object while causing its displacement (a vector) is defined as a scalar product of the force vector with the displacement vector. The scalar product of two vectors is obtained by multiplying...

Vector Product (Cross Product)

Vector multiplication of two vectors yields a vector product, with the magnitude equal to the product of the individual vectors multiplied by the sine of the angle between both the vectors and the direction perpendicular to both the individual vectors. As there are always two directions perpendicular to a given plane, one on each side, the direction of the vector product is governed by the right-hand thumb rule. Consider the cross product of two vectors. Imagine rotating the first vector about...
