Nanoparticle Suspension

Nanoparticle suspension is a colloidal mixture in which solid particles typically measuring roughly 1–100 nanometers remain dispersed throughout a liquid, combining nanoscale surface properties with fluid processability. Its stability depends on the balance between attractive forces that drive aggregation and repulsive effects, such as electrostatic surface charge or steric barriers from adsorbed molecules; Brownian motion can help maintain dispersion, while changes in pH, ionic strength, or solvent composition may promote settling or flocculation. In chemistry, controlled nanoparticle suspensions support catalyst preparation, solution-based materials processing, sensing, and formulation, while particle size, concentration, and stability strongly influence reactivity, optical behavior, and performance.
