Pdms Dvb Fiber

A PDMS-DVB fiber is a solid-phase microextraction device coated with a composite of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and divinylbenzene (DVB), designed to isolate and concentrate chemical compounds from complex samples before analysis. During sampling, analytes partition into the PDMS phase and interact with the porous DVB component; after exposure, the fiber is transferred to an analytical instrument, where heat or solvent releases the retained compounds for separation and detection. This approach supports solvent-minimized sample preparation in environmental, food, pharmaceutical, and biological chemistry, while coating selectivity and extraction conditions influence sensitivity, reproducibility, and the range of compounds measured.
