Electronic Ringing Suppression

Electronic ringing suppression is the reduction of unwanted oscillatory voltage or current transients that occur when an electronic circuit responds to rapid switching or abrupt changes in signal conditions. Ringing typically results from parasitic inductance and capacitance forming an underdamped resonant network, which produces decaying oscillations around the intended waveform. Engineers control it by adding damping through resistor-capacitor snubbers, series resistance, filtering, improved grounding, or transmission-line termination, while balancing switching speed and power loss. Effective suppression reduces electromagnetic interference, signal distortion, component stress, and false triggering in power converters, digital circuits, and high-speed instrumentation.

Amblyopia is a developmental disorder of the visual cortex that is often accompanied by strong suppression of one eye. We present a new technique for measuring and treating interocular suppression in patients with amblyopia that can be deployed using virtual reality goggles or a portable iPod Touch device.

Directed Cellular Self-Assembly to Fabricate Cell-Derived Tissue Rings for Biomechanical Analysis and Tissue Engineering

This article outlines a versatile method to create cell-derived tissue rings by cellular self-assembly. Smooth muscle cells seeded into ring-shaped agarose wells aggregate and contract to form robust three-dimensional (3D) tissues within 7 days. Millimeter-scale tissue rings are conducive to mechanical testing and serve as building blocks for tissue assembly.

(2013)This video demonstrates the use of click chemistry and fluorescence microscopy to visualize nascent RNA transcription in mammalian cells. It highlights how viral infection suppresses host transcription by comparing fluorescent signals between infected and control cells.

The Assembly and Application of 'Shear Rings': A Novel Endothelial Model for Orbital, Unidirectional and Periodic Fluid Flow and Shear Stress

Different levels and patterns of fluid shear are known to modulate endothelial gene expression, phenotype and susceptibility to disease. We discuss the assembly and use of 'shear rings': a model that produces unidirectional, periodic shear stress patterns. Shear rings are simple to assemble, economical and can produce high cell yields.

Human In Vitro Suppression as Screening Tool for the Recognition of an Early State of Immune Imbalance

Tregs are potent suppressors of the immune system. There is a lack of unique surface markers to define them, hence, definitions of Tregs are primarily functional. Here we describe an optimized in vitro assay capable of identifying immune imbalance in subjects at risk to develop T1D.
