Three Lamp Method

The Three Lamp Method is a simple electrical-engineering procedure for synchronizing an incoming alternator with energized busbars before parallel connection. It connects three lamps between corresponding phases of the generator and supply, so each lamp responds to the instantaneous voltage difference; when phase sequence matches and frequencies become nearly equal, the lamps brighten and darken together, reaching simultaneous darkness at phase coincidence. Engineers use this visual indication to close the circuit breaker at the correct instant, reducing circulating currents, torque shocks, and equipment stress while supporting reliable generator operation.

2018

This paper reports the protocol for a rapid identification assay for Bemisia tabaci based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology. The protocol requires minimal laboratory training and can, therefore, be implemented on-site at points of entry for plant imports such as seaports and airports.

Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) Assays for the Species-specific Detection of Eimeria that Infect Chickens

Diagnosis of Eimeria infection in chickens remains demanding. Parasite morphology- and host pathology-led approaches are commonly inconclusive, while molecular approaches based on PCR have proven demanding in cost and expertise. The aim of this protocol is to establish loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) as a straightforward molecular diagnostic for eimerian infection.

We present an RT-LAMP assay for the detection of TiLV in tilapia fish using simple instruments over a relatively short period of time compared to conventional RT-PCR techniques. This protocol may help control the epidemic spread of TiLVD, especially in developing countries.

Methods to Explore the Influence of Top-down Visual Processes on Motor Behavior

It is unclear how top-down signals from the ventral visual stream affect movement. We developed a paradigm to test motor behavior towards a target on a 3D depth inversion illusion. Significant differences are reported in both deliberate, goal-directed movements and automatic actions under illusory and veridical viewing conditions.
