Antiretroviral Therapy Support

Antiretroviral therapy support is the coordinated education, counseling, clinical monitoring, and practical assistance that helps people living with HIV start and consistently use antiretroviral medicines, which suppress viral replication and protect immune function. Support programs address barriers such as side effects, stigma, complex dosing, and limited access while clinicians monitor adherence, viral load, CD4 cell counts, drug interactions, and treatment response. Effective support promotes sustained viral suppression, reduces the risk of HIV transmission and drug resistance, and improves long-term health outcomes. It also strengthens patient-centered HIV care and informs strategies for treatment access across diverse communities.

Oral Combinational Antiretroviral Therapy to Treat HIV-1 Infection in a Humanized Mouse Model

2025

This video demonstrates an assay to evaluate the effectiveness of oral combined antiretroviral therapy (oral cART) in a human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1)-infected humanized mouse model. A combination of drugs targeting HIV-1, including nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors and integrase strand transfer inhibitors, is administered along with a nutritional supplement and antibiotics. Following the consumption of this mixture by the humanized mice infected with HIV-1, the effective...

Nanoparticles of indinavir, ritonavir, efavirenz and atazanavir were manufactured using wet milling, homogenization and ultrasonication. These nanoformulations, collectively termed nanoformulated antiretroviral therapy (nanoART), assessed macrophage-based drug delivery. Monocyte-derived macrophage nanoART uptake, retention and sustained release were determined. These preliminary studies suggest the potential of nanoART for clinical use.

Self-help support groups are voluntary, community-based organizations that provide a platform for individuals with shared concerns to exchange support, insights, and practical strategies for coping with life challenges. Typically led by group members or paraprofessionals, these groups form a cornerstone of mental health care, especially in reaching populations that are underserved by traditional healthcare systems. Accessibility and Cost-Effectiveness One of the primary strengths of self-help...

Sample preparation for cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) is a significant bottleneck in the structure determination workflow of this method. Here, we provide detailed methods for using an easy-to-use, three-dimensionally printed block for the preparation of support films to stabilize samples for transmission EM studies.

Support Reactions

2023

A coplanar force system refers to a set of forces that all lie in the same plane and are subject to different reactions between the point of contact and the supports. Understanding how different types of supports affect coplanar forces is crucial for designing safe and reliable structures that can withstand external loads. The purpose of the supports is to prevent the translational motion of the system by applying an equal and opposite force and to prevent the system's rotation by applying a...
