Cell Therapy Manufacturing

Cell therapy manufacturing is the controlled production of therapeutic cells for administration to patients, transforming a biological starting material into a consistent, quality-tested product. The process typically includes cell isolation, activation or genetic modification, expansion under defined culture conditions, formulation, and aseptic processing, followed by quality control for identity, viability, potency, sterility, and safety. In immunology and infection research, manufacturing enables the development of immune-cell therapies that can enhance pathogen recognition, replace dysfunctional immune populations, or support targeted treatment strategies. Standardized workflows and scalable production are essential for reproducible outcomes, clinical translation, and broader access to personalized cellular medicines.

An Ex Vivo Technique to Manufacture Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cells

2025

This video demonstrates a technique to manufacture chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells ex vivo. Human T cells are incubated with magnetic beads coated with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 antibodies, along with a medium supplemented with interleukin-2 (IL-2), leading to T cell activation and proliferation. Transgenic lentiviral vectors are introduced, allowing the transgenic RNA to integrate into the host genome and express the transgene. This results in the transduced T cells expressing chimeric...

Steel Manufacturing

2024

Steel manufacturing is a multi-stage process that begins by smelting iron ore into cast iron in a blast furnace. This initial stage involves layering iron ore with coke, a type of fuel, and crushed limestone within the furnace. The coke is ignited with a high volume of air, leading to the creation of carbon monoxide, which acts to reduce the iron ore to pure iron. During this smelting process, limestone plays a crucial role by forming slag. Slag captures impurities within the molten iron, such...

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) constitute a foundational set of guidelines that ensure the production of safe, consistent, and high-quality products, particularly in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and food processing. These protocols encompass all aspects of production, from the sourcing of raw materials to the final distribution of the finished product.A core pillar of GMP is stringent hygiene and sanitation across all production environments. This includes routine...
