Virus Factory Staining

Virus factory staining is an imaging-based method for visualizing the intracellular sites where viruses concentrate replication components, making infection-related organization visible in cells. Typically, infected cells are fixed and permeabilized, then treated with antibodies against viral proteins or nucleic acids and, when needed, host-cell markers such as membranes; fluorescent labels reveal the factories by microscopy. Comparing stained infected and uninfected cells can show their location, size, composition, and formation over time. In immunology and infection research, this approach helps investigate viral replication, interactions with host organelles, antiviral mechanisms, and changes associated with infection severity or treatment.

2023

Source: Laboratories of Gary Lewandowski, Dave Strohmetz, and Natalie Ciarocco—Monmouth University A factorial design is a common type of experiment where there are two or more independent variables. This video demonstrates a 2 x 2 factorial design used to explore how self-awareness and self-esteem may influence the ability to decipher nonverbal signals. This video leads students through the basics of a factorial design including, the nature of a factorial design and what distinguishes it from...

Factorial Analysis is an experimental design that applies Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical procedures to examine a change in a dependent variable due to more than one independent variable, also known as factors. Changes in worker productivity can be reasoned, for example, to be influenced by salary and other conditions, such as skill level. One way to test this hypothesis is by categorizing salary into three levels (low, moderate, and high) and skills sets into two levels (entry level...

2025

This video demonstrates immunohistochemistry staining for rabies virus antigen detection in infected mouse brain tissue. The process includes deparaffinization and alcohol treatment, followed by proteolytic treatment to enhance antigen accessibility. Immunohistochemistry staining reveals red precipitates, confirming the presence of rabies antigens in the tissue section.
