Colored Dye Injection

Colored dye injection is a medical visualization technique that introduces a colored tracer into a tissue, vessel, cavity, or biological sample to make anatomical structures and fluid pathways easier to identify. The injected dye moves through accessible spaces or circulatory routes, where its visible color creates contrast against surrounding tissues and can reveal connectivity, leakage, obstruction, or distribution patterns. Clinicians and researchers use this approach to support anatomical studies, procedural guidance, specimen analysis, and the evaluation of transport pathways. By converting otherwise difficult-to-see structures into observable patterns, colored dye injection can improve interpretation of anatomy and help assess structural or functional changes.

Guide Wire Assisted Catheterization and Colored Dye Injection for Vascular Mapping of Monochorionic Twin Placentas

2011

Vascular mapping of monochorionic (MC) twin placentas after birth provides a means for detailed demonstration of vascular connections between the twins’ circulations. Imbalance of these connections is thought to play a pivotal role in the development of complications of MC twinning including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

Accurate and Simple Evaluation of Vascular Anastomoses in Monochorionic Placenta using Colored Dye

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and twin anemia polycythemia sequence are two potentially devastating problems in perinatal medicine. Both disorders occur only in monochorionic twins and result from unbalanced blood flow through placental vascular anastomoses. We provide a simple protocol to accurately evaluate the presence of vascular anastomoses using colored dye injection of placental vessels after birth.

An in vivo dissection of the adult Drosophila ventral nerve cord (VNC) is demonstrated. This particular dissection method causes little damage to the VNC allowing the subsequent labeling of the giant fiber neurons with fluorescent dye for high resolution imaging.

Methylene Blue Dye Injection in Mouse Embryonic Urinary Tract: A Method To Assess the Congenital Obstruction in the Urinary Tract
