Dynamic Lus Monitoring

Dynamic LUS monitoring is the repeated, real-time use of lung ultrasound to assess changing pulmonary and pleural conditions at the bedside. By observing the pleural line and ultrasound artifacts, including A-lines and B-lines, clinicians can track changes in lung aeration, interstitial fluid, consolidation, or pleural air over time. This radiation-free approach supports rapid evaluation of respiratory status and response to treatment in settings such as emergency care, intensive care, and perioperative medicine. Serial findings can help guide fluid management, ventilatory support, and escalation or de-escalation of care while complementing clinical examination and other diagnostic tests.

2014

Glycosome dynamics in African trypanosomes are difficult to study by traditional cell biology techniques such as electron and fluorescence microscopy. As a means of observing dynamic organelle behavior, a fluorescent-organelle reporter system has been used in conjunction with flow cytometry to monitor real-time glycosome dynamics in live parasites.

Two-Photon Microscopy for Monitoring Calcium Dynamics in Mouse Retinal Cone Photoreceptors

Source: Kulkarni, M. et al. Imaging Ca2+ Dynamics in Cone Photoreceptor Axon Terminals of the Mouse Retina. J. Vis. Exp. (2015)This video demonstrates the use of two-photon microscopy to monitor calcium dynamics in cone photoreceptors of a transgenic mouse retina. It outlines the steps for preparing retinal slices, imaging FRET-based calcium biosensors, and analyzing fluorescence changes to quantify calcium levels under background illumination and light stimulation.

Monitoring Neutrophil Recruitment Dynamics and Bacterial Burden at the Infection Site in a Murine Model

2025

This video demonstrates in vivo imaging to study the neutrophil recruitment dynamics at an infection site in an immunocompromised, transgenic mouse with GFP-expressing neutrophils. It involves injecting luminescent bacteria to cause an infection. This leads to neutrophil recruitment to the infection site, whose tracking is done by imaging.

This article describes a convenient method for monitoring dynamic changes in antibody titers for two immunoglobulin isotypes concurrently (either IgA, IgM, or IgG) resulting from an immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination. This 'Multianalyte Covid-19 Immune Response Panel' employs three indirect immunoassays built on coded microspheres that are read using a flow-based multiplex reader with 'dual-channel' capability.
