Dynamic Visualization

Dynamic visualization is the graphical representation of information that changes over time or in response to user interaction, helping viewers interpret patterns that static images may obscure. In medicine, it can combine sequential measurements, anatomical images, or simulated data with interactive controls so clinicians and learners can adjust time, viewpoint, or selected variables and observe corresponding changes. This approach supports interpretation of physiological processes, disease progression, imaging findings, and treatment responses. By linking data to visible motion and context, dynamic visualization can strengthen clinical communication, improve understanding of complex systems, and support more informed research and medical decision-making.

Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy is a powerful approach to observe structures close to the cell surface at high contrast and temporal resolution. We demonstrate how TIRF can be employed to study protein dynamics at the cortex of cell wall-enclosed bacterial and fungal cells.

2024

Visual Dynamics is an open-source tool that accelerates implementations and learning in molecular dynamics simulation using Gromacs. The presented protocol will guide you through the steps to perform a protein-ligand simulation prepared in ACPYPE with ease and general steps to other simulation models.

Interference Reflection Microscopy for Label-Free Visualization of Microtubule Dynamics

2025

In this video, we describe the interference reflection microscopy (IRM) technique to visualize microtubules growing on a coverslip surface in the presence of a suitable buffer. Upon illumination with incident light, the coverslip-buffer interface and buffer-microtubule interface reflect light, which combines to create an interference pattern, enabling the visualization of microtubules as high-contrast images against a bright background.

Object From Motion (OFM) and Time-constrained stereo protocols are sensitive tools to identify monocular and binocular dynamic visual function deficits, which are uniquely affected in optic neuritis patients. Furthermore, these tests may be used as quantitative noninvasive tools to assess the extent of myelination along visual pathways.

Stress granules (SGs) are cytoplasmic RNA granules containing stalled ribonucleoprotein particles (RNPs), and important in cellular response to various stresses. Dynamics of SGs can be followed in live cells by visualizing the localization of a tagged component of SGs in transfected primary cells after stress.
