Lung Adenocarcinoma Model

Lung adenocarcinoma models are experimental systems that reproduce key features of this common non-small cell lung cancer, enabling researchers to study tumor development, progression, and treatment response. These models may use cancer cell lines, patient-derived tissue, organoids, or animals to recreate tumor-associated genetic alterations, cellular interactions, and microenvironmental conditions under controlled settings. In medicine, they support investigation of oncogenic mechanisms, biomarker identification, drug screening, and evaluation of targeted or immune-based therapies. By linking molecular changes to tumor behavior and therapeutic outcomes, lung adenocarcinoma models help advance personalized treatment strategies and improve understanding of disease biology.

Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) has allowed lung transplantation in humans to become more readily available by enabling the ability to assess organs and expand the donor pool. Here, we describe the development of a rat EVLP program and refinements that allow for a reproducible model for future expansion.

2025

This protocol describes the development of a neonatal piglet model of acute lung injury that models early pathogenic events occurring in the preterm lung, including sub-adequate surfactant quantity, hyperoxia, high-pressure ventilation, and inflammation, to facilitate understanding of molecular triggers of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and enhance therapeutic translation.
