Nerve Stump Grafting

Nerve stump grafting is a microsurgical technique that reconnects separated nerve ends when direct repair cannot bridge a gap, helping restore communication between the nervous system and affected tissues. Surgeons place a graft between the proximal and distal nerve stumps and secure it with precise coaptation, creating a pathway that supports axonal regeneration toward the distal target. In medicine, grafting is used to treat peripheral nerve injuries caused by trauma, surgery, or disease and may improve sensory or motor recovery. Outcomes depend on factors such as injury severity, gap length, graft condition, and the distance to the target muscle or sensory organ.

Combining Peripheral Nerve Grafting and Matrix Modulation to Repair the Injured Rat Spinal Cord

Traumatic injury to the spinal cord disrupts communication with the brain. To restore lost connectivity we utilize a peripheral nerve graft to provide a substratum for regenerating fibers in combination with neurotrophic factors and matrix-modulating enzymes to remove inhibitory molecules to promote long distance growth.

The purpose of the study is to illustrate the technical procedure of stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting as a novel treatment of symptomatic end-neuromata. This technique provides advantages of both the mechanical barrier and the biological action at the cellular level by the processed and concentrated SVF.

(2017)This video demonstrates the surgical procedure for neurolysis and stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting in the management of symptomatic neuroma. Neurolysis removes adhesion tissue to restore nerve gliding, while SVF-enriched fat grafting is applied around the nerve to create a protective barrier, support nerve healing, and enhance...

Neointimal hyperplasia is the primary cause of stenosis in arterialized veins. We propose a new protocol whereby the right external jugular vein is grafted using the cuff technique in the common carotid artery of Sprague Dawley rats. The survival rate was 100 % at the time point of sacrifice.
