Phased Array Probe

A phased array probe is an ultrasound transducer composed of many small elements that produce and receive sound waves, enabling rapid imaging through a relatively small acoustic window. Its electronics control the timing, or phase, of each element so wavefronts combine constructively in selected directions, electronically steering and focusing the beam without physically moving the probe. In medicine, this design supports real-time imaging of the heart between the ribs and assessment of blood vessels, abdominal structures, and other organs. By combining beam steering with rapid data acquisition, phased array probes help clinicians visualize anatomy and motion while supporting targeted diagnostic examinations.

Analysis of the morphology, composition, and spacing of exsolution lamellae can provide essential information to understand geological processes related to volcanism and metamorphism. We present a novel application of APT for the characterization of such lamellae and compare this approach to the conventional use of electron microscopy and FIB-based nanotomography.

This video demonstrates the methodology for performing Reverse Phase Protein Arrays (RPPA) to study protein expression patterns from cell lysate. In RPPA, the lysate containing a mixture of proteins is printed on nitrocellulose slides and proteins of interest are analyzed using fluorescently labeled antibodies.
