Vascular Network Analysis

Vascular network analysis is the quantitative study of blood-vessel organization, structure, and connectivity, providing insight into how vascular systems support tissue function and disease. It typically uses imaging data, such as angiographic or microscopic images, to segment vessel structures and measure features including vessel diameter, length, branching, density, and network connectivity. In medicine, these measurements help characterize angiogenesis, vascular remodeling, tumor perfusion, and abnormalities associated with cardiovascular or neurological disease. By converting complex vessel patterns into measurable parameters, vascular network analysis supports disease assessment, treatment evaluation, and the development of more precise diagnostic and research methods.

The protocol describes how to engineer a perfusable vascular network in a spheroid. The spheroid's surrounding microenvironment is devised to induce angiogenesis and connect the spheroid to the microchannels in a microfluidic device. The method allows the perfusion of the spheroid, which is a long-awaited technique in three-dimensional cultures.
