Animal Model Massage

Animal Model Massage is an experimental approach that applies controlled manual pressure or stroking to laboratory animals to examine how tactile stimulation affects the nervous system and behavior. By activating cutaneous and proprioceptive sensory afferents, massage can alter spinal processing and engage brain circuits involved in pain modulation, stress regulation, and motor control; responses may also include changes in autonomic activity and muscle tone. Animal Model Massage supports neuroscience research by providing a controlled framework for testing mechanisms of touch, evaluating interventions for pain or neurological dysfunction, and informing translational studies of manual therapies.
