Neural Dissociation

Neural dissociation is the process of separating cells from nervous-system tissue to produce a viable suspension of individual neurons and associated neural cells for laboratory study. It typically combines enzymatic digestion, which weakens extracellular-matrix and cell-adhesion components, with controlled mechanical trituration to release cells while preserving membrane integrity and viability. Researchers use dissociated neural cultures to examine neuronal development, synapse formation, electrophysiological activity, gene expression, and responses to drugs or injury under defined conditions. The method provides access to individual cells and supports imaging, functional assays, and molecular analyses that can be difficult to perform in intact tissue.

2020

Dissociated hippocampal cell culture is a pivotal experimental tool in neuroscience. Neural cell survival and function in culture is enhanced when coralline skeletons are used as matrices, due to their neuroprotective and neuromodulative roles. Hence, neural cells grown on coralline matrix show higher durability, and thereby are more adequate for culturing.

Dissociative Amnesia

2025

Dissociative amnesia is a complex psychological condition that manifests as an inability to recall personal information, often tied to traumatic or stressful events. Unlike general amnesia, individuals with this condition retain the ability to perform routine activities and procedural tasks, such as operating a phone or navigating public transportation, yet experience profound gaps in autobiographical memory. These lapses may encompass significant life events, such as suicide attempts or...

Dissociative disorders represent complex psychological conditions characterized by disruptions in consciousness, memory, identity, or perception. These disruptions cause individuals to experience a disconnection from their thoughts, emotions, and memories. The phenomenon is not merely an occasional lapse in attention but a profound alteration in mental functioning that can severely impact daily life. Dissociative Fugue A hallmark feature of dissociative disorders is the dissociative fugue...
